Coach Swick teaches the fine points of a man-to-man "D". The future of Poolesville Basketball? We'll find out as Andy Baker, Craig Morton, Ean Hill-Addison, and Mitchell Poe get ready for another day of camp.

The Wizards (and Bullets) were well represented at the Mini-Falcon Camp by (from top) Jamie Morningstar, Jess Brown, Megan Kennweg, Bridgette Hammett, and Noah Garner. It's "stinky feet" time with Coach Gardiner!

Jake Armstrong is trusting Reed Patton to drop the ball at the right time, Louis Potts goes in for Kayley Fishers rebound, Marina Callear and David Green work on their dribbling, and do the Marett boys really have this many questions?

The Mini Falcon Tarheels have a lot to shout about. The Sanmartin sisters do it right---practice looking up when you are dribbling.

Action in the ACC, PHS Varsity Coach Randy Berger shows Kelsey Carnahan where to pass, PHS Varsity player Jess Chittenden and PHS Varsity Coach Tom Lang hang out with camper Mateo Zapata.

Coming to a Post Office "Wanted" Billboard near you---Camp Directors Berger, Lang and Swick along with your PHS JV and Varsity hoops counselors.

"Sean Murphey says "who are you looking at?". Director Ted. G. gets his results nailed down. Coach Cori Rosenberg tries to get her troops set on defense for Julia Fisher.

Coach Eni Eboda does his best MJ imitation, the Mini Falcons (Kristen Darragh, Morgan Mullett, Cubby Schmidt, Mackenzie Mullet, and Dylan Prete) do a "cingular", Reed Patton holds the "money ball" with Micheal Morgan standing by.

Coach Dane Hanscom hangs out with Camden Wolin (Agent Zero), a smiling Kristen Darragh, and Bella Garner. Joe Soltis sizes up stealing the ball from Brianna Roche. Julia Fisher and Kate Heimbach go "duckwalking"!

The Falcon Camp ACC (led by Jason Kramek) and Big East Champions (coached by Kevin Baker) show off their certificates.

Jimmy Bowen's squad won right after this picture was taken. Sean Dahlen lines up a free throw during knockout.
Refs Kevin Cabrejas, David Schramm, and Kyle Bredice demonstrate their new ref "moves". Dominick Prete and Max Dahlen take a breather.

Two sets of "Fan Fans" cool off in the old gym.

These Mini Falcons (Hannah Bush, Sarah Mullikin, Maddie Gardiner, and Beth Roberts) were all smiles. Perry Domenici and John Satrzchev raise the ball high. James Royal shows he can duck walk AND dribble.

Coaches Kramek, Bowen, Orona, and Dickerson evaluate the talent. It's dribble drill time in the old gym. Kelly Hughes looks to pass past Kirby Carmack.

"Stay out of the corner!" with Keila Alfaro, Joe Brashear, and Alex Dahlen. Gilbert Arenas (times two-----Kirk Williams and Camden Wolin) was in the house, Jake Armstrong says "the foul was on ME?", Kristen Darragh says scoring over the shoulder is no problem.

Coach Lang shows Joey Cartwright how high a pass should be to get over a defender. Charlie Miller gets ready to try to shoot over Kristen Drinnon.

William Blanco is "hanging around". Brian Jacobs wins the "Gumby" award for being able to bend his arms like this. The basketball playin' Sanmartin triplets (Sienna, Giulia, Alexa) were the hit of the camp. Time to move to Poolesville, girls!

Coach Chris Soper gives his team (Blake Hinkson, Nicholas Lang, and Kate Heimbach) instructions. The Lang boys---Thomas and Nicholas--showed that the old man has taught them well. Mollie Bodmer hydrates----good idea!

"Let's go Huskies". Rebound time for Lara Auel, Charlie Miller, and Mateo Zapata. The current royal family of Poolesville Basketball------Kevin, Andy and Jamie Baker.

Coach Kevin Campbell uses his height and his whistle to maintain order. If you see this group wandering around Poolesville---watch out! From left----Kirk Williams, Ryan D'Amelio, Blake Hinkson, Alex Dahlen, Reed Patton, Tom Lang, Jake Armstrong, and Nicholas Lang.

Christy Lowe gets Gavin Preblic to "sky". All-Time PHS Leading Girls Scorer Jamie Morningstar gets a lift from little bro Tyler. The Hinkson brothers (Blake and Trent) get ready to fly.

Dillon Reio scores, Jess Brown coaches, and Kyle Dickerson goes over his line-up with Tim Eboda, Reio, and Ean Hill-Addison.

Jessie Kuldell knows her shot is going in, Rebekah Chittenden gets ready, and Jason Kramek has a reason to smile by hanging out with Kirby Carmack, Austin Zachrel, and Kelsey Carnahan.

Micheal Payne takes a breather, Allie Nevius gets ready to pass with Brianna Roche, and the camp directors flash their best smiles.

Kate Heimbach and Rebeckah Trainor are happy and ready to go in. It's "crazy shot" time as Jami D'Amelio shoots over brother Ryan D'Amelio. Chris Soper has a lot of willing takers for the ball.

The directors meet and greet the first camper of the day---the always on time Hannah Bush. It's drill time for Mini campers Gavin Preblic, Bridgette Hammett, Noah Garner and Brian Jacobs. Mackenzie Mullet duckwalks.

Ryan Johnston and Dalton Betson are twins or not twins---you decide! Can Alivia Tetlow be any cuter? Coach G. and Maddie Gardiner share a "father-daughter" moment. Alex Dahlen contemplates a sweaty penny.

Zach Sneed drives past Jason Kramek, Rosie Barry and Jessie Kuldell look up for a rebound. Coach Brendan McFall hangs out with Trevor Stottlemyer.

Coach Swick is amazed with Dillon Reio's footwork, Olivia McAlear hits on her Gatoraid, Lauren Gross, Jonathan Hart, and Rebekah Chittenden look for the ball.

Liza Jones is surrounded by her talent. Clockwise from left--Andrew Bacus, Austin Smith, Georgia Micheals, Mollie Bodmer, and Reed Patton. "Where is my man?" says Chris Johnson (as Michael Morgan looks on). Coach Megan Nevius leans in for a photo op with Breanne Hall.

It's free throw time for the Mini Falcons. Morgan Mullett and Kaylee Bonnefond are all smiles, as are Cory Brown and Jason Kuldell.

Ryan Johnston puts his elbow into Aidan Shea while boxing out for a rebound! Nick, Rosie, and Pete Barry were outstanding campers. William Blanco gets a dribbling example from Christy Lowe. Preston Foster grabs a board with teammate Giulia Sanmartin right behind him.

Who has a better defensive stance? From left---Kalie Terragno, Ryan Marett, Cubby Schmidt, Gavin Preblic, Josh Marett, Sarah Mullikin, Hannah Bush, Maddie Gardiner, William Blanco, and Beth Roberts. Tyler Morningstar checks the standings.

Coach Jess Brown hands out with Kristen Drinnon, Lara Auel, Whitney Carmack, and Olivia McAlear. Tyler Holston gets over everyone for a board. Trevor Stottlemyer and Nick Fisher vie for a rebound.

Nothing like "Uniform Day" to bring out the colors in everyone!

Dillon Reio, Will "The Thrill" Patterson, and Tim Eboda wait for a breeze. Emily Hitchens explains it all to Coach Swick. That's not black and blue nail polish on that pinky!

Coach Eni Eboda gets all hands in. From left: Ryan Johnston, Dalton Betson, Niko Sofelkanic, and Tyler Morningstar. Marina Callear and Alyssa Pruitt get ready to go. Niko Sofelkanic won the "Most Improved" prize for the Mini Falcon Camp.

That's a major "dunk" face from Niko Sofelkanic. "Crazy shot" number two comes from Preston Foster. The always best-dressed Andrew Bacus boxes out Reed Patton.

Junior Falcon ACC Champs get their props from the coaches. Shannon Hemp and Tyler Holston get ready for the rebound. Marina Callear shows off one of her "guns".

Falcon Camp contest winners come in all shapes and sizes. Eni Eboda huddles up. Coach G. hands off a prize ball to Gavin Preblic.

Last day of camp---time did fly! See you next year!

PBA 2008 Basketball Camp Review and Recommendation Guide
The 2008 Summer Basketball Season presents many opportunities for athletes of all shapes and sizes to work on their skills and improve their games. In this year's edition of the PBA Basketball Camp and Review Guide, we will review local camps and recommend activities based on each player's age and skill level. In addition to attending camps and clinics, each player needs to make sure they take personal responsibility for their own development. Skills and drills can be taught by the best coaches, but the best players work hard, either by themselves or with their friends and teammates, almost every day to improve their game.
Top recommendations? The week-long Falcon Basketball Camp, run by Poolesville High School Coaches Fred Swick, Tom Lang and Randy Berger, will be held at Poolesville High School during the last week in June (June 23rd-June 27th), and is a must for any local basketball player (4th Grade and up). See below for more information on dates, times, and how to sign up. For the most serious ball player, the Five Star Camps offer the most intensive training and competition. For the best individual shooting and offensive skills instruction, the Buzz Braman week-long camp should be attended at least once . The Frederick County Basketball Camp is another great option for all grade and skill levels.
For the youngsters, the PBA will be hosting the popular Mini-Falcon Camp and the all new Junior Falcon Camp. The Mini-Falcon Camp is a great experience for current Kindergartners through current 2nd graders and runs during the week of June 30th-July 3rd. There are two sessions each day and campers may attend both this year! The all new Junior Falcon is an all-day camp (you asked for it!) for 2nd and 3rd Graders. It will be held during the last week in June (June 23rd-June 27th) and will place heavy emphasis on fundamentals----with the key word being Fun! See above for more information.

For sheer offensive skills instruction, there is nothing like the Buzz Braman Exclusive Shooting and Supplementary Offensive Camps. Buzz Braman himself works with each individual camper to teach the famous "Braman Method" of shooting. Each camper must bring their own blank video tape so Buzz can videotape and analyze his or her shot. Immediately following each day's Shooting Camp, Buzz offers his Offensive Camp, where each camper learns the skills needed to get off their shot more effectively, plus one-on-one skills, and dominating guard, forward and center play. The combination of these two camps simply offers more offensive skills teaching than any other camp in the Washington area.

For top competition and instruction at the highest level, the most serious basketball players are encouraged to go to one of the Five-Star Basketball Camps (www.5-starbasketball.com), specifically, the Five-Star Day Camp held at Quince Orchard High School. The Five-Star Organization also offers two fine camps for girls-----go to the Five-Star web site for more info. These camps offer the most intensive higher-level basketball training available in this area, and often bring together in one camp many of the top coaches in the Washington area. If you want to work the hardest to bring your game to the highest level, the Five-Star camps can help take you there. NOTE: Not all age levels can attend these camps, so please double-check the age requirements for each individual camp. For more information, please feel free to email Washington area camp director Steve Beck at beck@five-starbasketball.com. The PBA also has plenty of brochures on hand to mail out to interested players.
